Since 2000, ACLP has given professionals in Educational Psychology and allied areas a place to meet and an academic forum for the issues that matter to Nigerian children and learners — through an annual national conference, a peer-reviewed journal and a national network.

Who we are
A forum born over a breakfast table in Onitsha
In November 1999, two colleagues in Onitsha noticed that Nigeria had no professional body for Educational Psychology and related disciplines. Within a year the Nigerian Society for Educational Psychologists (NISEP) held its first conference at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Registered in 2023 as the Association of Child and Learning Psychologists, ACLP celebrated its silver jubilee in October 2025 at Bingham University, Karu — and continues to publish The Nigerian Educational Psychologists and to meet every year.

Four ways ACLP serves the profession

A professional forum
A place for professionals in Educational Psychology and allied areas to interact and to discuss issues relating to the Nigerian child and the teaching-learning process.
The journal
The Nigerian Educational Psychologists, published since 2002 in two annual editions, with a book of readings from conference papers.
Annual conference & AGM
A national conference every year, at which the Annual General Meeting is held — from Awka in 2000 to Bingham University in 2025.
Research & fellowship
Preference for empirical research on Nigerian learners, and recognition of distinguished members as Fellows (fNISEP).

Call for papers — The Nigerian Educational Psychologists
The Association’s journal, published since 2002, invites original manuscripts — with preference for empirical research. Papers are limited to 15 pages, and conference papers must address the conference theme.

ACLP Annual National Conference & AGM
The Association of Child and Learning Psychologists holds a national conference every year, during which its Annual General Meeting (AGM) is convened.
Papers presented at the conference are gathered into the Association's journal, The Nigerian Educational Psychologists, and a book of readings. Papers must address the theme of the conference. Participants attending in person bring 10 hard copies of their papers to the venue; online presenters send an electronic copy to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) through a designated email.
The date, venue and theme of the next conference will be announced on this page and on the conference portal.
