To provide opportunity for professionals in Educational Psychology and allied areas to interact and have an academic forum for discussing issues relating to the Nigerian Child and the teaching-learning process.
Who we are
The Association of Child and Learning Psychologists
The Association of Child and Learning Psychologists (ACLP) is a professional body for people working in Educational Psychology and allied areas in Nigeria. It gives them a place to meet and an academic forum in which to discuss the Nigerian child and the teaching-learning process.
The Association began in 2000 as the Nigerian Society for Educational Psychologists (NISEP), after two colleagues at a hotel breakfast table in Onitsha noticed that Nigeria had no professional body for the discipline. It was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2023 under its present name, and celebrated its silver jubilee at its national conference in October 2025.
Every year ACLP holds a national conference and Annual General Meeting, and it publishes a journal, The Nigerian Educational Psychologists, together with a book of readings drawn from conference papers. A National Executive Council led by the National President runs the Association, with a Patron and an Editorial Board for the journal.
